How much cheaper is it to build Your Own PC than it is to buy a prebuilt one?
For example, if a PC from – lets says – dell costs £1000, how much would it cost you to build your own PC to the same standard?
Basically I’m wanting to get a new PC, but I’m not sure if I can be bothered to build my own.
I have a little bad news for you. It used to be cheaper to build then buy, but not any more. But a hand build computer is usually a much better machine then the ones that clutter the computer store shelves.
When you build, you “know” what’s in the box. And you also know whats not in the box. All of the ads and extra crap software that off the shelf units have installed will not be there. The computer will run much better.
Personal note: My first computer was a brand name unit. I will never own one again. My second machine was hand built by me. Basically, it had the same hardware as the brand name unit, but it was at least twice as fast. So may I suggest that you take the time to build and setup your own computer. You will never regret the effort.
