Are you looking for an awesome trading computer setup? There are several key elements to getting a trading computer setup that can keep up with today insane levels of data flow. My name is Eddie Z and I have been trading the Stock Market full time for well over twenty years and building computers since 1981. In this article I will give you a basic overview of the key components to an awesome trading computer setup.
First, when it comes to processing power and speed, the new Intel Sandy Bridge i7 2600k CPU is a must for traders. It’s lightning fast and can handle today’s overwhelming levels of real time market data. Second, you want a massive amount of Random Access Memory (RAM). Figure on at least 6 GB of RAM. Third, for a really fast trading computer setup consider getting something called a Solid State Drive as your operating system hard drive. These drives are 5 times faster than standard hard drives and are worth the extra money. Fourth you want multiple monitor support so you can see everything at the same time. This means having all your charts and indicators open over several time frames as well as browsers, chat, video news streams all open simultaneously. These components together will make a great trading computers system.
The last important key to an awesome trading computer system is having a super fast internet connection. Without that, it just won’t work. The minimum required speed is at least 5 megabits per second. If you try to trade with a slower connection, you are setting yourself up for failure. Bottom line on speed is the faster the better. So definitely upgrade to the fastest speed available in your area. If you do not know your current connection speed, then go to speedtest dot net and run the test. 95% of people in America have two choices; DSL or Cable broadband. Try to figure out who has the fastest in your area and go with that. And by the way, do not think that you will have a fast enough connection using a 4g air card or the like. Those speeds are less than 4 megabits per second and you will have issues. Satellite internet also presents a lot of problems so forget that too.
